Lightroom Secret – Enhanced Virtual Copies
Sometimes when working in Lightroom editing an image you'll want it to look one way but later decide you want it edited in a different way but all without losing your work to that point. Okay, but so what is the problem? Well once an image has been edited, any virtual copy you create from it will use the last edited look of image as its starting point. So the top-most entry in the History Panel for that edited image will be the creation point of the Virtual Copy and you cannot take the photo back in the History Panel to how it looked at the start of the original edited process, so as it was out of the camera. But you can use the Reset button (at the foot of the right panel of the Develop module), click it and it will reset your just-created Virtual Copy to how the original image looked out of camera, all edits removed. Rest assured, your edits will remain on the original image as only the Virtual Copy will be reset.
