Killer Photo Tips – Natural Light
Here are a few photo tips to use when using natural light flooding through windows or doors as the main light source... 1/ Get to know what light spills through windows and doors at different times of day. It may simply be too harsh – or too soft – for your subject. 2/ Switch off artificial lighting; electric light will mess up your white balance settings. 3/ Use the correct white balance to prevent odd colour casts, useful if you cannot turn off any artificial lighting (see 2 above). 4/ Use curtains, nets or blinds to help diffuse and control harsh light. If the sun is beaming into the room, the light will probably overwhelm your shot. Net curtains can help soften light and give greater control over exposure, similar to a studio softbox effect.
