Q: What will the holidays / retreats/ workshops cover?
A: Each holiday, retreat or workshop will be detailed as to exactly what it covers and the level of expertise you will need to have to attend it. If you are not sure then please do send us an email or give us a call by clicking here.

Q: How long are the holidays / retreats / workshops?
A: We have a selection of holidays, retreats and workshops to suit a variety of tastes and needs, ranging from 1 day to 2 weeks. Please do let us know if there is anything you would specifically like to cover and we will do our best to either recommend one of our current holidays, retreats or workshops. Alternatively we are happy to arrange bespoke variations on any of our products. 
Days will normally start between 9.00 AM and 10.00 AM and finish between 4.00 and 4.30 PM.

Q: What trips are included in the holidays / retreats / workshops?
A: We normally include a variety of interesting locations out and all of them are included in the price of the holiday / retreat or workshop, including transport to and from your hotel along with entrance fees.

Q: Can I book a complete holiday / retreat / workshop up?
Indeed you may and please do contact us accordingly and we will be pleased to offer you a special discount for a block booking.

 Q: What will I need to bring with me?
Full details may be found under the travel info section and on each of the cruise holiday / retreat / workshop details. Typically this is a brief summary:- 
A camera where you are able to control aperture, shutter speeds and ISO (sensitivity). It does not need to be an SLR.
A reasonable capacity memory card, such as 8GB or higher compatible with your camera.
If you have a selection of lenses please feel free to bring them all with you.
A tripod would be beneficial but not necessary. (NOT a table top tripod). Gorilla pods are great too and extremely useful.
We recommend you bring a laptop with a minimum RAM of 4GB. 8GB or higher preferable. Ideally with either Photoshop CS6 or Creative Cloud and additionally Lightroom.

Q: Do I need both Photoshop and Lightroom installed on my laptop?
A: Ideally yes, but if you are not sure whether or not you want to purchase a full years subscription before you have done the holiday, retreat or workshop you can download a “free before you buy” version of Creative Cloud with both Photoshop and Lightroom which will last you for 30 days. Just remember to download it no sooner than 30 days before the end of the program date though!

Q: I am a complete beginner and know nothing about cameras and PC’s. Can I still attend?
A: Within reason yes, although some basic PC skills such as basic navigation around your PC, your filing system etc. will be required. 

Q: I know the basics of my camera – can I still come on any of the courses?
A: Some of our holidays and workshops will be aimed at complete beginners, others for the more experienced camera and Photoshop users and others for a mix of any skills. They will all be clearly defined in the details. If you are not sure please do send us an email and we will advise accordingly.

Q: I am an advanced camera user – will any of the holidays, retreats or workshops be suitable for me?
A: In general the cruise holidays will be suitable for anyone of any level although we will be concentrating our efforts on the beginner to intermediate camera and Photoshop user. Our retreats are, in the main, aimed again at beginners to intermediates although there there is nothing to stop you coming along. We would simply request that you work quietly at the back on your own whilst we are talking basics. Workshops are more targeted at specific areas of photography so will pretty much be suitable for anyone at any level.

Q: How many students will be attending the holidays, retreats or workshops?
A: We normally restrict our places to a maximum of 10 ensuring optimum learning. Should it be more than this it will be clear in the details. Some of the barge cruises are much smaller so learning will be even more focused and assistance more readily available.

Q: How much will the holidays, retreats or workshops cost?

Q: Am I expected to do homework in the evenings?
A: No. Your tutors will however be available in the evenings on some of the cruise holidays should any additional guidance or support be needed.

Q: How long is each day?
A: This is very dependent on the holiday / retreat or workshop. Retreats and Workshops are normally around 7.5 hours inclusive of tea breaks and lunch. Holidays are more varied with your tutors on hand most of the day and early evening.

Q: Will I get fed?
A: Yes. All holidays are totally inclusive of all food and most drinks. One and two week workshops have refreshments available throughout the day, with a light lunch and evening meal on each day. Full day workshops: Light refreshments and lunch only are included.

Q: Is there much walking involved in the holidays / retreats or workshops?
A: Where there are trips out there will be some walking involved. If you have limited mobility please inquire via email or telephone us so we can advise accordingly.

Q: What clothing will I need?
A: Depending upon the season you will need to bring clothing commensurate to the time of year. You will need at all times comfortable walking shoes and we would suggest a weather / waterproof coat / jacket.

Q: I am disabled. Can I still attend?
A: Some of our holidays / retreats / workshops are suitable others are not. Please inquire with us directly for further details

Q: Do I need to be able to speak fluent English?
A: A good of command of English is required if you wish to make optimal use of the course materials. There will be no translators. 

Q: Where will the retreats and workshops take place?
A: These will vary but in the main are based in and around Kent. Please note our holidays cover a much wider area in Europe.

Q: What happens if I fall ill just before the course and am unable to attend?
See full details in our cancellation policy. We would also highly recommend that you claim against your holiday Insurance cover as our refund policy is also designed so that neither ourselves, the hotels or Cruise Holidays UK are out of pocket the closer the date gets to the start date.
