An Introduction to Product and Still Life Photography

Join best-selling photographer Doug Harman and Photographer and renowned Photoshop Artist Sue Chapman ARPS, CPAGB for this workshop where you will learn to shoot food, products and various still life subject.
This one day workshop comprises the following:
0930 Meet and welcome at Capture and Create's Ashford based studio.
1000 An introduction to the basic techniques of product and still life photography.
1100 Practical session demonstrating equipment, techniques, lighting and composition.
1230 Working Lunch (provided)
1315 Time for you to experiment with your cameras and kit with full assistance from Doug and Sue
1445 Refreshment break
1515 Upload and edit your photos
1600 Share best images of the day and Q&A
1630 Summary and close
This one day workshop caters for beginner to intermediate experience levels. Some basic knowledge of either Adobe Lightroom or Photoshop is preferable but not essential so that you are able to upload your images and do some basic adjustments in order for us to view, edit and share your best image.

SUGGESTION: If you have something you would like to photograph or experiment with for your product/still life set-up, please bring it with you and we can help you get the shots. Items such as backdrops, flowers, bottles, food items, etc., all make a great still life shot.
What You Need to bring...
- Camera gear and accessories
You will need a camera you are able to control the aperture, shutter speeds and ISO (sensitivity). It does not need to be an SLR however. Additionally please bring...
- All your lenses – but if you do own a dedicated 50mm or 100mm macro lens they're ideal
- A reasonable capacity memory card, such as 8GB – or higher – compatible with your camera
- A sturdy tripod is recommended
- A flashgun or any off camera lighting equipment if you have them. These are not essential especially if you bring a tripod!
- Your laptop with a minimum RAM of 4GB. 8GB or higher will offer faster performance, however.
If you do not have Lightroom or Photoshop installed on your PC, we suggest you download a free 30-day trial directly from Adobe a few days before the start date which will be fully functional for the workshop. A basic knowledge of any one of these programs is recommended for this workshop, but not essential.
