All of our courses are accredited, this course by The Open College Network (OCN), a leading UK Awarding Organisation. This course has been accredited as a Level 1 course and the skills learned will enable you to complete the OCN accreditation "Digital Photography - Learning to See".
• The course contains 5 units, each requires you go out on a photo shoot, putting into practice the skills learned. All five units have an online test that needs to be completed after each photo shoot. The pass rate for these is 75% and these can be retaken if required.
• You will also need to build a submission for each unit, and a small portfolio of your work for Unit 5, which will be marked by your personal tutor. Remember, each submission will be looked at by your tutor. In these submissions, you can ask questions and your tutor will answer them for you.
• Submissions must be uploaded to your student area. Your final portfolio will be marked on your images and also your commentary, the pass rate for this unit is also 75%. Your Unit 5 portfolio and the 5 tests will make up your final mark.
The Units You Will Study...
Unit One: Starting with Small Steps
10 easy to follow small steps designed to improve your photography in just a few hours.
Unit Two: The Camera Basics
Learn your camera's basic controls, begin to take full control of your photography.
Unit Three: Capture the Image
Gain an understanding of the various image file types available to use with your camera and why, and learn the correct use of white balance control.
Unit Four: The Image Elements
Some basic rules of composition are the key to Unit Four, these will allow you to start "making" photographs and not just take them.
Unit Five: Learn to See the Shot
"Analytical reflection" may sound like jargon, but it is a must-have skill for the serious photographer; this unit is all about learning to analyze your photographs.
Unit Six: The Final Project (Only applicable if you have booked accreditation on this course).
This is where all your learning in previous five units comes together; your Unit 5 submission may be suitable for Unit Six too. Your tutor will advise if it is not and let you know what else needs to be done, prior to submission to Laser Learning and/or The Open College Network (OCN).
• Not everybody requires a qualification; this accreditation is offered and can be used as an add-on extra to another course. However, as we have found that building the OCN submission enables you to re-evaluate your learning, we strongly recommend you complete the OCN option even if the qualification is not important to you.
Qualifications & Course Accreditation
By completing this course, and should you opt to have the accreditation, you will achieve a Digital Photography - Learning to See Level 1, optional OCN Accreditation.
