Ashford Photographic Society win KCPA Diamond Jubilee Trophy 2017

Doug and I are both members of Ashford Photographic Society. We are one of the top clubs in Kent and I am privileged to have been their chairman for a few years, but, having relinquished that role and still sitting on the committee, I am also now on the “selection committee”.

Stiff Competition

As part of a group of six (I am the only girl in the group!), it is our responsibility to go through all the seasons digital images from our inter-club competitions and select what we consider to be our “best”. These are the images that then go into the Kent County Photographic Association (KCPA) competition against all the other clubs in Kent. As such the competition is fierce, so it is a great achievement for the club as a whole, the individuals who gained awards and naturally the selectors who thankfully made some good choices.
But, without the rest of the club to compete against on a weekly basis throughout the winter, we wouldn’t have a club, So in fact, it is every member that deserves the recognition and not just those who were lucky enough to have had work selected to represent Ashford.
Well Done
So here’s a huge “well done” to everyone at Ashford Photographic Society for winning the KCPA Diamond Jubilee Trophy.

Being a member of a camera club is not only great fun but it pushes you to strive to be a better photographer, you can learn so much from the visiting Judges and their critique your work in competitions (if you want to enter them that is) and also from club members themselves, who are always on hand and willing to share their knowledge and enthusiasm.
